Daddy

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to give a quick update on daddy's condition. The last time I posted we had great news about the PET scan. But now, we have no good news. Daddy was admitted to the hospital last Sunday, December 12, 2009. He was released on Wednesday, December 16, 2009. He is now resting at home and Hospice has been called in. We are so very sad and devastated. When receiving the news of the good PET scan report we thought we would have a little more time. Please Pray for my family. Daddy is our rock and we are all very sad. I will try to keep you as updated as possible. Sometimes it is just to hard to write about because I get upset all over again. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

I will lift my eyes to the hills, from where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, Maker of Heaven and earth(Psalm 121:1-2)

Sure Could Use, A Little Good News Today

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on daddy. His PET scan showed no change in his cancer. PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!! We were so happy to hear that the cancer has not spread anywhere else in his body.

That being said, the fluid is still gathering in his stomach. Dr.Hinton said it could be a side effect from one of his Chemo meds. He is going to take daddy off Chemo until after Christmas. This will allow him to see if the fluid goes away or if it continues to come back. We will reevaluate in January and go from there.

Thank you so much for all the prayers for my family and especially my daddy! I think we forget sometimes just how powerful prayer can be. We are so thankful for the good report we received today and we are looking forward to all watching the Ballgame together tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great weekend and ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!! Shana

Disney Pictures

Just wanted to share a couple of Disney Pictures from mine and Delainey trip. We had such a wonderful time. We are already planning our next visit. Hope you enjoy!

Update On Daddy

Sorry I have not updated the blog in a few weeks. I have been really busy and when I think about the blog I am usually already in bed almost asleep. As most of you know daddy has been doing pretty good the last 5 months. We all had gotten use of Daddy's new routines with his chemo and and his good days and not so good days. We were at what I guess you could say a new "NORMAL" life with cancer.

On November 17, 2009 daddy had to have 3.5 liters of fluid drawn off his stomach. On November 25, 2009 he had to have another 3.5 liters drawn off and yet another 3.5 liters drawn off on November 30, 2009. To say the least, this is not a good sign of what the cancer is doing in his body. Daddy has a PET scan on December 2, 2009 and we will find the results out on Friday morning. Doctor Hinton seems to think the cancer is growing and that the chemo he is currently taking is not doing the job we need it to do. After Dr.Hinton sees the result from the PET scan we will regroup and get a new plan.

Please pray for my family. We are very sadden by this news. We want so bad for daddy to feel good again and get a good report. Daddy continues to stay positive which helps all of us. I love my daddy so much and all I want is for him is to smile and laugh again. Until Friday........

Daddy's Three Month Report

Daddy had his three month report on September 29, 2009. The report was good! No new cancer. Minimum improvement, but there is improvement! The nurse practitioner was very encouraged. She said colored areas on scan not as dark as in June. Daddy Started back the 5FU again but with a lesser dose. Will go three more months and then see where we are.

Please continue to pray for all of us. Daddy's Spirits are good, but it is very hard to see the physical affect that the cancer and chemo has taken on his body. My mom has been a trooper in taking such good care of him.

This weekend he has not felt all that great. Dad is at the doctor today to get some blood work done to see what might be causing him to be so sick this go around of chemo.

I would like to thank everybody for the continued support and prayers we receive daily. We love you all. I promise I have Disney pictures coming soon. Have a great day! Shana

Labor Day 2009

Hello Everybody!
Long time no post. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been really busy with work, family and Scentsy. Just wanted to give everyone an update on daddy. He is doing really good right now and has been going places and visiting friends. He stills has his days where he doesn't feel that great but he keeps on going on. He has been nauseated more this go around. He will have his second PET scan on Friday, September 25, 2009. It has been three months since he started chemo. This scan will let us know if the chemo is slowing down the cancer or not. We should know the results on Tuesday, September 29, 2009. Please continue to pray for my Mom and Dad and pray that we get the results we want from the PET scan.
I wanted to share a few pictures from Labor day. We all gathered at mom and dad's for a wonderful meal. The girls played most of the day while the adults sat around and talked and cooked. Daddy didn't feel like cooking his famous bar-b-q so he is teaching Tony how to do it. It was wonderful. Tony is catching on very well.
I have a lot more to post. But for now I have to go. Post to look forward to: Pictures from our Texas trip in July, Our New Kitten and Delainey and I are leaving for Disney World this Thursday for her 6th Birthday. We have lots to share when we get home. Have a great week!

Before I sign out. I wanted to thank all of you who have been so kind and loving to my family during this time. Thanks to Bobby Johnson for Cutting Mom and dad's yard, Thanks to everyone who brings mom and dad food, Thanks to all of his good buddies who come and visit with him in his shop, thanks for all the cards we have received and most of all thank you for all the prayers. We love each and everyone of you!

Happy 47th Anniversary!!

Just wanted to wish my wonderful parents a HAPPY 47th Anniversary! They are such a wonderful example of what true love and dedication is all about.

Daddy started his 4th round of chemo this morning. They are reducing his 5FU this time to see if that will help with the sores in his mouth and on his feet. That means he will be done with the 5FU on Saturday and get the 30 mintue treatment of Gemzar on Monday.

Daddy and mom are doing really good. It amazes me how strong they both are. I know daddy feels awful, but he still continues to stay strong and positive for all his girls. My mom is being so brave and strong too. She waits on him and attends to his every need. She is really a good nurse.

Daddy continues to enjoy sitting in his shop with Lulu (the dog) and all his friends who come to visit. He has plenty of chairs, a fan, TV and a bathroom what else could he possibly need. LOL!

Since Daddy has been diagnosed with Cancer. I am learning to look a life in a new way. I know longer take for granted that my mom and dad and the people I love will always be around. I am also trying to live by the motto "live today like it was your last". You never know what tomorrow may bring. I have learned to appreciate the simple things in life. Life is about living and making memories. The memories we make are what people will hold on to when we are gone. I hope that as a mother, I am making memories for Delainey so that one day a long time from now she will look back on all the wonderful things she did in her life.

FYI: Daddy came to church on Sunday, August 16. This is the first time he has been able to attend since his cancer. Delainey was so excited to see both Papa and Nana on their regular pew. She sat her sweet self right in between them and was as happy as a lark.

I know we have many days to come that will be both good and bad. I hope there is more good than bad but I will take whatever God gives me.

Have a great week! I will post in a few days to update you on Daddy and on Delainey's 2nd week of kindergarten. Ta, Ta for now! Shana

Delainey's First Day of Kindergarten

Just wanted to share a few pictures from Delainey's first day at Taylorville Elementary. She absolutely loves school. She is so excited about the whole aspect of learning to read. She loves her teacher (Mrs.Dockery), her classroom, her new friends, music, lunch and even PE. Mom and I picked her up from school and went and met the girls and Aunt Kelly for some TCBY. This is a tradition the girls have always done on the first day of school and this year Delainey got to go too. She loved it! She thinks she is a BIG girl like her cousins, Sarah Mason and Grace because she goes to a BIG school now. Aunt Kelly brought her a little surprise for starting kindergarten and she thought that was just awesome! After ice cream we took Nana home and Delainey could not wait to get their so she could tell Papa all about her day. I will try and post more really soon. I have been crazy busy at work and at home. I still have to do a post on our trip to Texas and I will do a update on Daddy this week. Have a great week! Shana

Watch Out Texas Here We Come!!!!

Well it's 12:36 in the am and I still have not gone to bed. As usual I procrastinated and waited to the very last minute to pack for Texas.I am waiting on the last load of clothes to dry and then I am off to bed for a few hours of shut-eye. We are going to Texas to see my sister-in-law, Dana and her great big wonderful family. Dana is Danny's sister and I could not have asked for a better sis-in-law. She is married to a fantastic guy, Cody and they have six, yes six, great kids. I don't know who is more excited, Delainey, Danny or me.

Before I say goodnight I wanted to give everyone an update on daddy. I went to see him today and he is doing pretty good. Delainey hung out with Papa while Nana ran a few errands. Our preacher stopped by and Daddy said Delainey talked his ears off. I asked her what they talked about and of course she said nothing. I hope my little angel didn't tell any Milligan secrets, LOL!!! Anyway, daddy is a little tired and weak today, but overall had a fair day. Please continue to pray for my daddy.

I leave you with a few pictures of The Henderson's. We can't wait to see them!! Ta Ta for now!!

Family News

Okay, I have half-way figured out this blogging thing and I think I am an official blogger. This blog will be used to post news about my family, including news about my dad. For those who don't know, my daddy was diagnose with cancer on June 11, 2009. For those who have experienced a love one with cancer you are very aware of what we are going through. For those who have not just let me tell you it changes your life and everything about it.

Daddy is going to start his third round of chemo on Monday, July 27, 2009. So far he has done great on his chemo. He has been really tired, a little nauseated, and not much of a appetite. Overall I think he has done a AWESOME job in handling the chemo treatments. Daddy's attitude and Spirits are so wonderful! He is a positive man who always sees the good in things and he has someway found the good in taking chemo. I love my Daddy very much and he is truley my hero.

His regiment of Chemo is as follows: He is on chemo a total of 8 days and then he has a break for two weeks and then he starts over again. The first one he gets is call Gemzar and he takes it the first and last day of his chemo cycle. That takes about 30 minutes to go through his port. After the Gemzar he starts the second drug that is called 5-FU which he takes for 7 days/ 24 hours a day. For those who know my funny daddy he thinks the name for the second chemo is very appropriate. He said the first person who had this drug named it exactly right(get it FU) LOL!!!!!

I am going to really try and update as much as possible on daddy. My family, needs lots of prayers coming our way. To those who have been praying for us, Thank you, we have felt each and every one of them. We are very lucky to have so many wonderful friends and family.

That is all for now. I am including a picture of my daddy so those of you that don't know him can put a face with a prayer. Thanks again everyone for your love and support.

I DID IT!!!

Yea me! I posted a picture. Not exactly how I wanted it to look but I am learning. Let's give it another try.

My First Post of a real official Blog

I am so excited that I finally took the time to make a real blog. I love reading other peoples blogs and like to see all their fun pictures and to read about their families. But what I like most of all is that every blog I have stumble upon to they are a Christian. That is such a wonderful thing. These days you don't know who is a believer and who is not. I am proud to be a Christian and glad that God is my father.
